Foso College of Education hosted a two-day training on AI Prompt Engineering from June 10 to 11, 2025, at the E-Learning Centre. The sessions were led by Obed Saah and Frederick Dadzie from Project AI, and focused on practical ways to use AI tools for teaching, research, and administrative work.

The training was split across four sessions. It began with a morning session for non-teaching staff, covering AI fundamentals, prompt engineering, and hands-on practice with email writing, summaries, and report generation. In the afternoon, lecturers explored similar topics, with extra focus on how to create lesson content, write effective prompts for the classroom, and use tools like ChatGPT to support teaching.

On the second day, lecturers returned for more in-depth sessions. The morning focused on using prompts to build quizzes, flashcards, and student activities, and included discussions on safe and ethical AI use. The final session covered advanced prompt techniques, AI-assisted marking, and integrating these tools into everyday classroom practice. Participants worked together in small groups, sharing ideas and building prompts collaboratively.

One highlight was how well participants responded to the use of AI in report writing and research. Many said they were thrilled to see how quickly and accurately AI could generate drafts, suggest improvements, and help organize content.

In total, 71 staff members from departments including Languages, Arts and Social Sciences, Science, ICT, Creative Arts, Education Studies, and Administration took part. Their strong engagement showed the college’s growing interest in using AI to enhance learning and work processes.

Foso College of Education continues to invest in building digital capacity among its staff. This training marked a significant step forward in helping participants not just understand AI, but apply it meaningfully in their daily work.
